An Edmonton man is dead after falling into a CNC machine at a job site, the company that operates the mill said.
John D’Orazio, 43, was at a Cnc Mill in the city’s northwest end and was not wearing protective gear when he fell into a machine Wednesday morning, said Cnc Technology, which owns the mill.
The company said the worker was not in a critical condition when he was transported to hospital.
D’Orzio was a certified mill operator with Cnc-Aero, according to the company.
The mill operator is in charge of the mill’s safety, maintenance and repair, according the company’s website.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John D’Obrazio who was a skilled and dedicated worker who devoted his life to his business,” said CNC Technology president Scott Pritchard.
“He was beloved by his colleagues and his family and we send our condolences to his family.”
Pritchard said D’Opazio was known to be an enthusiastic operator and an excellent worker.CNC Technology was closed for a week following the incident, the site manager told CBC News.
The Mill owner declined to comment.
